Step 1: Take the 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course
- Enroll in a state-approved real estate school (like Academia Educacional de Real Estate).
- Complete the 63-hour Florida Real Estate Sales Associate Pre-Licensing course.
- You can take it in person or online.
Step 2: Get Your Electronic Fingerprints Taken
- Schedule your digital fingerprints through an approved vendor (like Pearson VUE or Identogo).
- Make sure the fingerprints are submitted to FDLE (Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement).
- Cost: About $50–$80.
Step 3: Apply for Your Real Estate License
- Apply online at myfloridalicense.com (DBPR portal).
- Complete the application and pay the fee (about $83.75).
- Processing time: Usually 10–30 days.
Step 4: Pass the End-of-Course Exam
- Once you complete the 63-hour course, you must pass the school’s final exam (must score 70% or higher).
- If you don’t pass, you must wait 30 days to retake it.
Step 5: Schedule and Take the State Exam
- Once DBPR approves your application, schedule your exam with Pearson VUE.
- The state exam is 100 multiple-choice questions (must score 75% or higher).
- Cost: About $36.75.
- Test centers are available across Florida, or you can take it online with a webcam.
Step 6: Activate Your License
- Once you pass, you’ll receive your license status.

- The broker will submit a license activation request to DBPR.
Step 7: Start Training and Begin Your Career
- Attend new agent orientation and training sessions.
- Begin marketing yourself, learning the tools, and start prospecting for business.
